The Friends

The Friends of Red House was set up to work with the Red House Trust and the Hollamby family, the owners of the house, in order to:

  • Acquire and preserve Red House for the public benefit
  • Advance the education of the public in the work of William Morris and Philip Webb and the artists and artisans of their time and those who were influenced by them, with particular reference to the creation of Red House

The Friends carry out a number of activities including:

  • Organising and running the public open days for the house.
  • Being responsible for the upkeep of the garden.
  • Organising social events, including trips to other houses where William Morris has had an influence
  • Lecturing on Red House and associated topics
  • Producing a Newsletter and other promotional material

The Friends of Red House welcome all new members. We are particularly keen to attract some active volunteers who would like to help in any of the above activities.
